Magnetic Resonance

risonanza magnetica

The service is offered with Synergy (a partnership established by the Misericordia Brotherhood of Pontassieve and the Valdisieve Hospital) with a new open-type artificial magnetic resonance imaging equipment. This collaboration offers a Magnetic Resonance(MRi) service, a non-invasive diagnostic technique that provides detailed human body image without exposing the patient to ionizing radiation. Magnetic resonance is a technique used to produce high definition images of all human body areas without the use of ionizing radiation, exploiting the physical properties of the high intensity magnetic field. Images are reproduced using superconducting magnets and pulse waves that "capture" sections of the area to be studied then processed in order to rebuild them in 3D with the help of specific imaging software. Magnetic resonance imaging has been in use since the early 1980’s and there are no known side effects. It is one of the best investigative analyses and can be used throughout the body;

MRi can be used on the following areas:

knee

foot / ankle

shoulder

hip

vertebral

column

wrist / hand

elbow

No specific preparation for the exam is required.  The Misericordia Brotherhood and Valdisieve Hospital agreement allows the use of the service by members and supporters of Miseriordia at particularly advantageous rates. Performance will be provided at Valdisieve Hospital - Via Forlivese 122, where the equipment shown in the picture is located.
